A horrific mass shooting in the heart of Texas is raising serious questions about whether America’s enemies abroad are now inspiring violence on our own streets.
Authorities say a Senegalese-born gunman opened fire outside a popular Austin nightlife spot early Sunday morning, killing two innocent people and injuring 14 others. As investigators dig deeper, disturbing details are emerging that suggest the attack may not have been random.
Police identified the suspect as Ndiaga Diagne, 53, a naturalized U.S. citizen originally from Senegal. According to reporting from CBS News, Diagne first entered the United States in 2000 on a tourist visa. He later secured a green card in 2006 and became a citizen in 2013. Before relocating to Texas, he reportedly spent time living in New York.
What unfolded early Sunday morning has shaken the Austin community.
