The Middle East moved one step closer to a wider war this weekend after Iran unleashed a barrage of missiles and drones aimed at multiple U.S.-aligned Gulf nations, triggering fierce condemnation from Saudi Arabia and setting off emergency air defense responses across the region.
What unfolded Saturday was not a limited skirmish. It was a coordinated strike that targeted Bahrain, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, and Jordan. Within hours, Riyadh responded with a sharp rebuke, calling out Tehran in unmistakable terms and warning of serious consequences if the aggression continues.
In a forceful statement, Saudi Arabia made clear it is standing shoulder to shoulder with its neighbors. The Kingdom declared:
“The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia condemns and denounces in the strongest terms the treacherous Iranian aggression and the blatant violation of the sovereignty of each of the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the State of Qatar, the State of Kuwait, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, affirming its full solidarity and standing by the side of the sister states, and placing all its capabilities at their disposal to support them in all measures they take, and warning of the grave consequences of the continued violation of the sovereignty of states and the principles of international law.”
