MyKayla Skinner knows what it feels like to have her Olympic destiny determined by the judges. She earned silver in vault at Tokyo 2020, a medal that came down to subjective scoring—and now she’s speaking out after witnessing history repeat itself on the ice.
This week in Milan, Skinner watched as Madison Chock and Evan Bates, two of America’s top figure skaters, were denied gold despite delivering a breathtaking free dance. The injustice was enough to push Skinner to break her silence.
“I’m sick of athletes not getting what they worked so hard for and judges cheating,” Skinner told Fox News Digital. She didn’t mince words. This wasn’t a matter of “controversial scoring” or “subjective disagreement.” According to Skinner, it was outright cheating.
Chock and Bates lit up the ice to the Rolling Stones’ “Paint It, Black,” leaving every ounce of energy and emotion on the rink. The Milan crowd erupted as the duo finished, tears in their eyes, knowing they had given everything they had. Their total score: 224.39, including a 134.67 in the free dance.
