BREAKING: Retirement Rumors Rock the Supreme Court!

Speculation inside Washington legal circles is heating up over whether Samuel Alito, one of the most reliable conservative voices on the Supreme Court of the United States, could be preparing to step aside in the near future—potentially opening the door for Donald Trump to name yet another justice to the nation’s highest court.

Justice Alito, now 75, was appointed by George W. Bush and has served on the Court since 2006. Over nearly two decades, he has built a reputation as a firm constitutionalist, often siding with limits on federal overreach and defending a traditional reading of the Constitution. His influence has been especially pronounced in cases involving administrative power, religious liberty, and separation of powers.

While Alito has made no public announcement signaling an imminent departure, outside commentary has intensified. On the liberal legal podcast Strict Scrutiny, co-host Melissa Murray, a professor at New York University, floated the idea that timing could matter more than age.

“That is usually a very good milestone on which to retire,” Melissa Murray said on the podcast, according to reporting from USA Today.
