“That’s right, every single individual has received due process. They’ve been through the procedure and the legal remedy for dealing with individuals who don’t have legal status in our country,” Noem explained.
She also called out politicians and media figures for manufacturing outrage.
“I tell members of Congress all the time who are out there creating false narratives and spewing rhetoric, we just follow the law. What the Department of Homeland Security is doing is what the last administration should have done. We follow the law, and we’ve won many of the challenges in court,” she said.
Noem reserved her sharpest criticism for the press itself.
“But every single day, the media individuals lie about the work that we’re doing and what we’re doing is specifically what President Trump promised. He just promised he’d make America safe again. He’d go after criminals, and he’d deport them out of the country so they couldn’t continue to victimize American families. And we’ve been incredibly successful with that,” Noem stated.
The message was unmistakable: while DHS enforces the law, the media enforces propaganda.
The attacks on Noem intensified as Democrats seized on opportunities to discredit her. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer have repeatedly demanded her resignation and threatened impeachment. Democrats even filed formal articles accusing Noem of violating civil rights and funneling federal funds to Republican-linked companies.
Timing played a key role. Two fatal shootings in Minneapolis involving ICE agents — including the deaths of Renee Good on January 7 and Alex Pretti on January 24 — gave critics an opening. Yet DHS data shows assaults on ICE officers rose 1,300% and vehicular attacks jumped 3,200% since the Trump administration began, statistics largely ignored by the press.
Media outlets ran with narratives about “paramilitary tactics” and “killing American citizens in cold blood,” despite video evidence disproving several claims. Charges against Marimar Martinez were dropped after evidence contradicted DHS allegations, revealing a pattern: unverified activist claims were treated as fact while DHS statements faced relentless skepticism.
Public opinion, however, tells a different story. Quinnipiac polls suggested trouble, but deeper data revealed strong support from conservatives. Harper Polling found 92% of Trump supporters approve of his job performance, 81% approve of Noem’s, and 87% endorse her immigration strategies. Nationwide, three polls confirmed that Americans favor mass deportations of illegal aliens, cooperation with ICE, and local jails handing over criminal illegal aliens.
The results speak for themselves. Noem announced an 84% average decrease in border encounters, rescues, criminal arrests, and assaults on federal agents compared to the previous fiscal year. Under Biden, more illegal aliens crossed the southern border in a single month than have crossed during Noem’s entire tenure. DHS has removed thousands of criminal illegal aliens, including those convicted of murder, rape, child sexual assault, and gang activity. Millions more have voluntarily left through a program offering $2,600 and a plane ticket home.
Border communities once overwhelmed under Biden are now secure, and enforcement is proceeding exactly as promised. Democrats may rage, and media outlets may continue to cry “controversial enforcement,” but Americans clearly support the policies.
As Noem told Bongino, the choice is clear: DHS follows the law, while the media spins stories for political gain.
