New forensic evidence has surfaced in the troubling disappearance of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, and three individuals tied to the case are now in custody as authorities intensify what they are still calling a rescue mission.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that a SWAT operation carried out in Guthrie’s neighborhood is directly linked to the ongoing investigation. Law enforcement vehicles blocked off East Placita De Graciela and East Camino de Michael as heavily armed deputies moved in. Residents watched in shock as the normally calm street turned into a high-security crime scene.
According to sources close to the case, two individuals, a man and a woman, were detained during a law enforcement operation at a home in the area. A third person was reportedly taken into custody following a separate traffic stop. Authorities have not publicly identified those detained or detailed their exact connection to Guthrie.
In an additional twist, unconfirmed reports from a neighbor claim another individual shot himself in the head amid the unfolding events. Officials have not verified that claim, but the report has only deepened the sense that something far more serious may be unfolding behind the scenes.
