At a time when his party is attempting to wage a political war against Immigration and Customs Enforcement by threatening a partial shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security, the Pennsylvania Democrat stepped forward and exposed a glaring reality: their strategy does not even touch ICE’s funding.

That is not Republican spin. That is math.
As both chambers of Congress departed Washington for a 10-day recess without securing new funding for DHS, Democrats framed the standoff as a stand against President Donald Trump’s aggressive immigration enforcement agenda. They demanded tighter restrictions on federal immigration officers, expanded use of judicial warrants, new identification requirements for agents, and a revised code of conduct.
President Trump made it clear those conditions would be “very, very hard to approve.”
Meanwhile, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer insisted the proposals would bring “an end to the chaos.” He added, “The White House and congressional Republicans must listen and deliver.”
But here is where the narrative collapses.
