Instead, it may have invited a political reckoning into its own studio.
Savannah Chrisley confirmed this week that she will guest host The View during the week of February 16 while Alyssa Farah Griffin is out on maternity leave. For network executives, the booking likely looked harmless on paper: a reality television personality with name recognition and social media reach.
But Chrisley made it clear she is not walking into that studio with a short memory or a softened spine.
The conservative commentator and podcaster announced the appearance on X, emphasizing that she sees value in engaging with people who strongly disagree with her worldview.
“I’ll be co-hosting The View the week of Feb 16th! I believe in sitting at tables with people who disagree with you and refusing to shrink your values to make others comfortable,” Chrisley wrote.
Then she followed it with a line that immediately set off alarm bells inside ABC.
