A network television host on CBS just suggested that federal officers enforcing immigration law are morally inferior to the Third Reich, despite operating in cities where politicians and activists openly call for their harm.
Those remarks aired just days after Border Patrol shot Alex Pretti in Minneapolis, marking the second fatal incident connected to ICE operations in the city within weeks. Earlier, ICE agent Jonathan Ross was involved in the shooting death of Renee Good.
Yet instead of calling for calm, Hollywood poured gasoline on the fire.
Hollywood Figures Escalate the Attacks
Colbert was not alone.
Actress Molly Ringwald posted a four-minute Instagram video to her 1.4 million followers comparing Trump-era immigration enforcement to Nazi Germany.
She went even further by issuing a warning to Americans who support ICE.
“Eventually, they got their country back. Those people who collaborated were found to be criminal. And that is what’s going to happen.”
The message was unmistakable: support federal immigration enforcement today and face punishment tomorrow.
The Violence Against ICE the Media Ignores
While celebrities and politicians demonize ICE, the reality on the ground is far more serious than most media outlets will admit.
ICE officers are facing an unprecedented surge in violence. Assaults against agents have increased by 1,300 percent. Vehicular attacks are up 3,200 percent. Death threats have exploded by 8,000 percent since Trump returned to office.
From January 21, 2025 through January 7, 2026, ICE recorded 66 vehicular attacks. During the same period under Biden, there were just two.
Criminals are now using cars as weapons to target federal officers.
The White House recently released a list of 57 separate instances where Democrats publicly attacked or demonized law enforcement.
Democrats Lead the Rhetorical Charge
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz referred to ICE as the “modern-day Gestapo” and claimed the state was “at war” with federal officers.
California Representative Delia Ramirez labeled ICE “the single biggest threat to public safety right now” and called them “a terror force.”
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez demanded ICE be abolished, branding it an “anti-civilian force.”
Senator Chuck Schumer accused agents of “terrorizing our streets and killing American citizens” while threatening a government shutdown over ICE funding.
McCarthy Explains the Consequences
Appearing on America’s Newsroom, McCarthy explained how this language turns directly into violence.
“You know, that language is very damaging,” McCarthy said. “That puts people in harm’s way.”
He explained that Democrats demanding ICE agents remove their masks are not motivated by transparency, but by intimidation. Exposing identities makes it easier for mobs to target officers and their families.
And the threats are no longer hypothetical.
TikTok users have openly discussed poisoning ICE agents, spiking drinks, and mobbing officers during operations.
A Virginia Commonwealth University nurse, Malinda Rose Cook, was fired after posting videos instructing viewers how to incapacitate federal agents using muscle paralytics, poison ivy-infused water, and drink spiking.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that vandalism and harassment are surging nationwide.
“The Democrat Party has demeaned these individuals,” Leavitt said. “They’ve even referred to them as ‘Nazis’ and as ‘the Gestapo.’ And that is absolutely leading to the violence we’re seeing in the streets.”
Why Minneapolis Is Different
McCarthy pointed out a fact Democrats refuse to confront.
ICE operates in dozens of cities. Only Minneapolis has erupted into chaos.
Only Minneapolis has seen two fatal shootings tied to enforcement operations.
Only Minneapolis has mobs attacking federal officers and blocking arrests.
The difference is not ICE policy. It is local leadership.
Governor Walz compares ICE to Nazis. Mayor Jacob Frey refuses cooperation. City Council member Robin Wonsley calls enforcement “terrorist attacks.”
Then they feign shock when violence follows.
Democrats Threaten Shutdown to Protect Criminal Aliens
Senate Democrats are now threatening a government shutdown unless ICE operations are crippled. Their demands include removing masks, public identification, and judicial warrants for every arrest.
They know these rules would make enforcement impossible. They know agents would be targeted immediately. That is the point.
McCarthy closed with a question Democrats will not answer.
“If you asked people in a poll, do you want violent criminals that are here illegally in your community, yes or no? What do you think the answer is going to be?”
Americans already answered that question at the ballot box.
And Democrats are responding not with policy, but with smears, intimidation, and rhetoric that is putting federal officers in danger.
When violence follows, they blame everyone but themselves.
