For over a year, the media establishment has painted former President Trump as a dictator simply for enforcing immigration laws.
Now, four major papers have reversed course—but not because they suddenly care about securing the border.
Over the weekend, the New York Post, Wall Street Journal, New York Times, and Washington Post all published editorials urging Trump to pull back in Minneapolis following a Border Patrol shooting during a protest.
Conservative Papers Break With Trump
The New York Post led the charge Sunday morning.
“It’s time to de-escalate in Minneapolis, Mr. President,” the editorial board wrote, immediately adding, “not because you’re wrong to enforce immigration law.”
That phrasing—“you’re not wrong, but”—is revealing. When your own side starts with that, the criticism is more about optics than principle.
