Bill O’Reilly stunned fans last week when he announced he would step away from his show due to a health scare. The conservative media icon initially kept details under wraps, leaving audiences speculating about the cause.

“A hereditary condition involving internal bleeding took me down temporarily. I hope,” O’Reilly wrote on his website. “I have the best medical team led by Dr. Ira Jacobson, trying to keep me on the field.”
True to form, O’Reilly didn’t shy away from delivering a pointed critique while discussing his treatment.
“Thank God we don’t have socialized medicine in this country,” he added. “I’d be in a dark container right now.”
