By any measure, the last thing a grieving family should face is criminals exploiting a moment of loss. Yet according to law enforcement statements and media reports, that is exactly what may have happened at a North Carolina property connected to Greg Biffle, one of NASCAR’s most recognizable names.

Authorities in Iredell County say a break-in was reported in early January at a Mooresville residence tied to the Biffle family. The alleged burglary occurred just weeks after widely reported news of a fatal plane crash involving Biffle and several family members, an incident that stunned the racing world and prompted an outpouring of public sympathy.
Investigators say whoever forced their way into the home did not come empty-handed.

According to Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell, suspects allegedly broke into the home along Doolie Road and accessed a safe inside the residence. Items reported stolen include approximately $30,000 in cash, firearms, NASCAR memorabilia, and a backpack.
