“Bottom line, we are forced into the community because the governor of that state and the mayor support sanctuary cities,” Homan said. “They create a huge public safety trap. So if you want less officers in the street, then let us in the jail.”
He made it clear: federal agents are not targeting neighborhoods out of choice—they are acting because state and local officials refuse to cooperate.
Criminal Illegal Aliens Free on Minnesota Streets
Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey have long promoted sanctuary policies that effectively shield criminal aliens from deportation.
During Operation Metro Surge, ICE arrested more than 400 illegal aliens in Minnesota, including violent offenders and sexual predators who should have been removed years ago.
Mahad Abdulkadir Yusuf, a convicted sex offender from Somalia, had forced a victim to perform oral sex multiple times. ICE had previously tried to arrest him, but a building manager blocked their access, actively shielding a known predator.
Ban Du La Sein from Burma had been convicted of third-degree criminal sexual conduct involving force.
Somvang Phrachansiry, a 63-year-old illegal alien from Laos, was sentenced to over eight years for rape and assault with a weapon. He had a deportation order dating back to 2001 that was never enforced.
Javier Bulmaro Turrubiartes was convicted of paying a 15-year-old for sex.
These are the very criminals sanctuary cities protect while Democrats lecture Americans about “compassion.” Fox News reporter Bill Melugin obtained ICE’s full list, revealing ten convicted murderers and dozens of child rapists arrested in Minnesota.
Democrats’ Selective Outrage
Homan didn’t let Democrats off the hook for their hypocrisy.
“Where were all these people?” he asked, referencing Minnesota officials now demanding transparency. “They’re complicit from their stance on open borders for four years. Where millions of people were released in this country, many of them public safety threats and national security threats.”
The Border Czar highlighted that these same politicians were silent when half a million children were trafficked into the U.S. under Biden’s open border crisis, including 300,000 who went missing while the administration failed to even track them.
Now, Trump’s administration has located 129,000 of those missing children—but Democrats are more interested in attacking ICE for doing its job than addressing the failures that put public safety at risk.
ICE Officers Are Federal Law Enforcement
Homan made it abundantly clear who is responsible for Minneapolis’ current chaos.
“It is a federal crime to impede or interfere with an ICE officer,” he stated. “The left wants to play this game that ICE officers aren’t law enforcement. They are federal law enforcement officers.”
The solution is simple. If Minneapolis allowed ICE access to local jails to pick up criminal aliens with removal orders, these street-level operations wouldn’t be necessary.
Instead, Democrats have consistently chosen political theater over public safety. Now, as the consequences of their sanctuary policies become undeniable, they scramble to deflect blame.
The Minneapolis shooting is not just a tragedy—it’s a direct result of policies that put politics above people’s lives. And Homan’s stark warning makes one thing clear: when sanctuary cities protect criminals, the public pays the price.
