Trump Administration Halts Offshore Wind Projects Over Pentagon Alarm
On December 22, the Trump administration abruptly halted construction on five major offshore wind projects along the East Coast. The decision was announced by Interior Secretary Doug Burgum after classified Defense Department findings revealed serious risks to national security.
According to officials, the Biden administration approved these projects without fully accounting for how massive offshore turbines interfere with military radar systems.
“The prime duty of the United States government is to protect the American people,” Burgum stated.¹
