California Democrats have a long history of engineering crises and then using those same crises as excuses to squeeze more money out of taxpayers.

For years, the state has pushed aggressive green energy policies through mandates, subsidies, and heavy handed regulation. Gas powered vehicles were declared the enemy. Electric vehicles were sold as the future. Californians were told they would save money, protect the planet, and avoid rising fuel costs.
Now that future is colliding with reality.
And California has cooked up a new way to make everyday driving far more expensive for working families.
California’s EV Obsession Just Blew a Hole in Its Budget
California lawmakers went all in on electric vehicles. The state now mandates that 68 percent of new vehicle sales must be zero emission by 2030, rising to 100 percent by 2035. State planners estimate that means roughly 15 million electric vehicles will eventually be on California roads.
