The man accused of assassinating conservative activist Charlie Kirk made his first in person court appearance this week and the disturbing details are already raising eyebrows.

Tyler Robinson, the 22 year old suspect charged in the high profile killing, appeared before Judge Graf on Thursday in what marked his first time physically present in a courtroom since his arrest. Robinson was dressed in civilian clothes but remained fully restrained as deputies escorted him into the courtroom.

From the moment proceedings began, Robinson’s behavior drew attention.

Cameras captured Robinson smirking, laughing, and leaning toward one of his public defenders as they exchanged quiet words. He was flanked by three attorneys assigned to his defense Kathy Nester, Michael Burt, and Richard Novak.

While a hot microphone briefly picked up muffled audio from the defense table, the words themselves were impossible to make out.
