While world leaders make headlines for arguments at summits, she has been navigating sensitive ground and producing life changing results for families caught in the crossfire of war.
Ukraine’s government estimates that at least 19,500 children were taken since the invasion began in February 2022. Humanitarian groups say the real number is likely much higher.
Ukraine’s First Lady Olena Zelenska has spoken about the devastating condition many of these children return in, telling reporters in August, “The children who come back are subdued mentally they’re broken. Only after they return do they start coming back out of their shells.”
Melania Unveils Christmas at the White House With a Message of Home, Hope, and Heart
While her humanitarian work made headlines, Melania also revealed this year’s White House Christmas theme, “Home is Where the Heart Is.” This marks her fifth opportunity to transform 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue into a patriotic display of American tradition, beauty, and symbolism.
The decorations this year are nothing short of breathtaking: over 25,000 feet of ribbon, more than 2,000 strands of light, 120 pounds of gingerbread, 2,800 gold stars, 10,000 blue butterflies, and more than 700 feet of garland. Fifty one Christmas trees and seventy five red bow wreaths complete the display.
The White House explained her vision to Fox News Digital, stating, “Every detail of the 2025 White House Christmas decorations was personally selected by Mrs. Trump to honor the heart of America and the theme ‘Home Is Where The Heart Is.’”
Melania expanded on the meaning behind the theme, sharing, “The saying ‘Home is Where the Heart is’ resonates deeply with me, especially as I navigate the joys, challenges, and frequent motion that comes with motherhood and business.”
She continued with a reminder fitting for the season: “This Christmas, let’s celebrate the love we hold within ourselves and share it with the world around us.”
Honoring America’s 250th Birthday
Inside the East Room, the theme shifts toward patriotism and unity with “America, Our Home.” The décor includes red, white, and blue, national symbols, 56 eagle ornaments representing every state and territory, and 250 stars marking the upcoming 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
America250, the organization overseeing the milestone celebration, stated, “The decor and concept of the East Room highlights ‘America, Our Home,’ beautifully reflecting the spirit of unity, hope, and shared purpose that defines our nation.”
