Oklahoma Student Penalized for Following Her Faith
Samantha Fulnecky, a junior studying psychology at the University of Oklahoma, submitted an essay for her lifespan development class reflecting her genuine beliefs. Her “offense”? Writing from a Christian perspective about gender roles.
The assignment instructed students to engage with a scholarly article on gender norms and provide a “thoughtful discussion” of their personal views. Fulnecky complied, drawing on her faith to articulate her perspective.
