Democrats are waking up to a new political headache after leaked private messages from Arizona Sen. Ruben Gallego surfaced, revealing the senator taking aim at his own party’s cultural direction. The messages, obtained by Human Events, show Gallego privately mocking Democrats for becoming the opposite of the free-spirited coalition they once claimed to be.
In the leaked conversation, Gallego complained that Democrats are “not allowing no men to men” and “women to be hot.” He added, “We used to be the party of sex, drugs, and rock and roll,” according to The Daily Caller. For a party obsessed with branding itself as youthful and progressive, the senator’s comments could not have hit at a worse time.
Gallego didn’t stop there. “Now Dem women look like Dem men and Dem men look like women,” he wrote, expressing what many frustrated moderates quietly say behind closed doors but rarely dare speak publicly.
The messages begin with an unidentified Republican correspondent suggesting that someone “with a cool head and a solid plan” could rise within today’s Democratic Party. Gallego shot back with a candid reply: “Oh man have you met my party? I have been yelling at them this the whole time.”
