Washington’s political temperature just spiked again as House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer turned his attention toward two of the Democratic Party’s most protected figures. Bill and Hillary Clinton have officially been told to sit down for sworn depositions — or face the type of consequences Democrats once cheered when used against Trump allies.
This isn’t a request. It’s an ultimatum.
Comer Turns Up the Heat
Comer first moved in August to compel the Clintons to answer questions about their past links to Jeffrey Epstein, the disgraced financier whose circle of influence reached from Wall Street to world capitals. Now, after months of back-and-forth, their attorney tried to offer a written summary instead of live testimony.
But Comer wasn’t buying it.
He immediately pushed back, pointing out that the lawyer’s own letter admitted the Clintons “possess some relevant information.” Comer fired back that refusing to appear in person “amounts to a demand that the Committee forgo in-person testimony, potentially relevant to its legislative oversight.”
