The hypocrisy in Congress is on full display. Democrats loudly demand the release of Jeffrey Epstein-related records, calling for investigations into corruption at the highest levels. Yet when it comes to scrutinizing questionable behavior inside their own ranks, suddenly the party’s moral outrage disappears.
Case in point: Rep. Jesús “Chuy” García of Illinois. The Democrat has represented Illinois’ 4th Congressional District since 2019. He filed to run for reelection on October 28 but abruptly withdrew just days later on November 3.
García attributed his decision to personal reasons—specifically, caring for his grandchildren and his wife, who is battling multiple sclerosis. “He made a deeply personal decision based on his health, his wife’s worsening condition and his responsibility to the grandchildren he is raising after the death of his daughter,” García’s spokeswoman, Fabiola Rodriguez-Ciampoli, explained on November 12.
