ABC’s The View erupted this week after eight Democrat senators broke ranks and sided with Republicans to end the record-breaking 42-day government shutdown. But it wasn’t the end of the stalemate that grabbed headlines — it was Sunny Hostin’s fiery on-air takedown of Schumer that sent shockwaves through Democrat circles.
Hostin didn’t mince words. “I think Chuck Schumer — his days are over,” she declared. “If he cannot keep his caucus together, he needs to go. He needs to be replaced.”
That brutal assessment came just hours after eight Democrats — including Angus King, John Fetterman, Catherine Cortez Masto, Jeanne Shaheen, Maggie Hassan, Jacky Rosen, Tim Kaine, and Dick Durbin — crossed the aisle to end the shutdown. Their defections gave Republicans the 60 votes needed to advance a stopgap deal that funds the government through January 30.
