And the data tells the story. Biden has brought in 222,829 migrants through the refugee program so far, with over 100,000 admitted in fiscal year 2024 alone — the highest number in thirty years. That explosion didn’t just change immigration patterns; it also drained taxpayer wallets.
The State Department blew more than $3.1 billion on processing and resettlement, which averages out to nearly $14,000 per refugee — just for the first 90 days in the country. And that’s not the end of it.
Deep inside the Department of Health and Human Services, the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) went on a breathtaking spending spree — $20 billion in just two years. That money funded everything from housing and medical care to “integration programs,” many of which handed out direct cash assistance.
Some migrants even received taxpayer-funded benefits to buy cars, homes, or start businesses. All under the guise of “refugee support.”
What Biden created wasn’t compassion. It was a slush fund for globalist organizations aligned with his political base — a revolving door of money and influence disguised as humanitarian aid.
Perhaps the most egregious example of this corruption sits at the top of the refugee bureaucracy itself. In 2022, Biden appointed Robin Dunn Marcos — a 23-year veteran of the International Rescue Committee (IRC) — to run the Office of Refugee Resettlement.
Before her appointment, the IRC received $22 million from ORR in 2021. The year after Dunn Marcos took charge, her old organization’s funding exploded — raking in $235 million in 2023 alone.
In total, the IRC has pulled in $598 million since 2020, while another group she previously worked for, Church World Service, collected $355 million during the same period.
Officials claim Dunn Marcos recused herself from funding decisions involving her former employers. But watchdog group OpenTheBooks filed a Freedom of Information Act request in May 2023 for her emails — and as of today, no records have been released.
The silence speaks volumes.
As if the corruption wasn’t enough, Biden also rewrote the rules on who qualifies as a “refugee.” Through new “Safe Mobility Offices” across Latin America, the administration admitted 25,358 people from the Western Hemisphere in fiscal year 2024 — four times more than the year before.
A survey of those migrants revealed the truth: 90% came for economic reasons, not because of persecution or war.
Under international law, a refugee must be fleeing serious danger — not simply seeking a higher income. But the Biden administration ignored that distinction entirely. Their goal wasn’t humanitarian relief — it was to flood America with new arrivals who could reshape the nation’s demographics and tilt future elections.
President Trump, now back in charge, is putting an end to Biden’s abuse of the refugee system. The administration has redirected refugee slots to people actually facing persecution — notably Afrikaners in South Africa, where racially charged land seizures and violence against white farmers have escalated.
“The Trump administration has delivered on its mandate to secure our border and to end the era of mass immigration forced on our country by the Biden administration,” Piggott said.
Trump also shut down Biden’s CBP One app, which allowed more than a million illegal immigrants to “self-parole” into the U.S., ended catch-and-release, and restarted construction on the border wall.
The difference couldn’t be clearer: Biden opened the floodgates and funneled billions to his allies — Trump shut down the corruption and redirected aid to those truly in danger.
What Biden called “refugee resettlement” was, in reality, a taxpayer-funded racket. Twenty billion dollars funneled into left-wing organizations, migrants rewarded for breaking the rules, and bureaucrats enriching their old employers — all under the American flag.
Trump slammed that door shut. The result? Real refugees get help, taxpayers save tens of billions, and the open-borders lobby loses its favorite ATM.
That’s what accountability — and America First — looks like.
