The revelation has sparked outrage among conservatives, especially given the FBI’s multi-year failure to identify a suspect despite offering a $500,000 reward. Two years after January 6, FBI Director Chris Wray publicly claimed the investigation was “ongoing,” even as crucial data tied to the suspect’s phone mysteriously became “corrupted.”

According to Blaze News, a sophisticated gait analysis program—which measures walking patterns like hip extension, cadence, and stride—matched Kerkhoff’s movements to the pipe bomber seen on surveillance video with a 94% algorithmic match, while a veteran analyst pegged it closer to 98%.
Adding to the intrigue, the investigation found that Kerkhoff allegedly used her neighbor’s SmarTrip card to travel into Washington, D.C., during the days of January 5 and 6.
When Blaze News journalists visited her residence in Alexandria, Virginia, law enforcement appeared to be monitoring the property. Editor-in-chief Christopher Bedford was reportedly pulled over by local police after stopping near the home, though he was later released without charge.
The Officer Who Fired on Protesters
Even more disturbing is Kerkhoff’s own sworn testimony about her actions on January 6. During the trial of Guy Reffitt, a Texas man accused of leading a group toward the Capitol, Kerkhoff testified to using aggressive tactics on the crowd.
“Every time he took a step, they took a step,” Kerkhoff told jurors. “It was becoming a dire situation.”
She admitted, “maybe 30-40” pepper balls were fired directly at Reffitt that day in an attempt to drive him back.
That testimony, once seen as an example of police restraint, now takes on a darker meaning in light of the allegations linking her to the explosive devices that triggered the Capitol lockdown in the first place.
The FBI’s Convenient ‘Data Loss’
Critics say the FBI’s claim that critical tracking data was “corrupted” looks less like a coincidence and more like a cover-up. Rep. Thomas Massie grilled Director Wray in 2023 over the missing phone data, but Wray refused to answer questions about the case—fueling even deeper suspicion.
As one commentator noted, the bureau “spent nearly five years investigating and somehow lost the most vital data” just as public scrutiny intensified.
An Operation to Control the Narrative?
The implications are staggering. If a Capitol Police officer truly planted the pipe bombs that justified the government shutdown on January 6—and then conveniently landed a job at the CIA—it raises serious questions about who was really behind the day’s chaos.
Many conservatives now suspect that the January 6 event was more than just a protest gone wrong. To them, it increasingly looks like a carefully orchestrated operation designed to justify a crackdown on political opposition and cement the 2020 election results without resistance.
With new evidence continuing to surface, one thing is clear: the story Americans were told about January 6 may have been one of the biggest political deceptions in modern history.
As Rep. Massie said in response to the latest findings, “Heads need to roll.”
