“While I was following them, I was able to have a little bit of a discussion with him, but it always resorted back to, ‘You’re a fascist, and I’m not stealing because this isn’t worth a lot of money. They’re just stickers,’” Buxton told Fox News Digital.
A third confrontation followed. For twenty minutes, the agitator screamed insults, calling Buxton a “fascist” 16 times in one sitting.
“They justified everything they were doing because I was a fascist, saying that fascists don’t have rights, they don’t have any reason to be out there, their opinions aren’t worth anything,” Buxton explained.
The activist struck for a fourth and final time, once again grabbing the group’s property before police finally arrived.
The Real Danger of “Fascist” Rhetoric
Buxton later said the left’s obsession with labeling conservatives “fascists” is more than name-calling — it’s fueling dangerous behavior.
“I think that shows how the left, always pushing fascist rhetoric, has really brainwashed a lot of their followers into thinking that anybody on the right is a fascist, and they don’t have any rights,” he said. “I think that’s really dangerous.”
Across the country, that mindset is turning violent. The College Fix reports over 100 campus incidents targeting conservatives this school year — everything from vandalism to physical assault. One student in Texas was even attacked with a metal bike lock.
OSU Students Demand Action
OSU YAF Chairman Thomas Hatfield said his group isn’t backing down.
“We will continue to press on until due justice is given to us and to all people who have had free speech incidents on campus because we want to send the message that this is unacceptable and this will not stand,” Hatfield declared.
He then issued a bold ultimatum to the university: sign the Contract for Safe Campus Dialogue — or face public exposure for failing to protect conservative students.
“We would also like to, officially, as Young Americans for Freedom at Oklahoma State University, demand that Oklahoma State sign on to the Contract for Safe Campus dialog as put forward by Young America’s Foundation and the president of the Young America Foundation, Governor Scott Walker,” Hatfield said.
The contract requires schools to protect all students equally, guarantee free speech, and ensure conservatives can speak safely without fear of harassment or bias.
OSU’s Weak Response
Oklahoma State University responded with a generic statement: “Oklahoma State University supports free speech.” The school added that police are investigating and “charges are pending.”
But for students like Buxton, the double standard couldn’t be clearer.
“If this were to happen to a leftist club on campus, there would be all kinds of emails — do you need mental training or anything like that or therapy. So we haven’t got any type of outreach like that,” Buxton said.
No More Empty Promises
Hatfield said OSU’s next move will prove whether the school truly supports free expression — or just pays lip service.
He challenged the administration to sign the contract “not as lip service to our side, but as a commitment and to release statements to enact policies, committing to fostering an environment where everyone’s First Amendment rights are respected.”
Now, the ball is in Oklahoma State’s court.
They can sign the contract and stand for genuine equality — or admit that conservative students at their university are second-class citizens.
Either way, the line has been drawn.
