A Drunk Illegal Alien Ends Two Lives
Mike and Gail Clayton weren’t politicians or activists.
They were beloved members of their small community — known for volunteering, supporting local shops, and showing up every weekend at the Charleston Farmer’s Market. Mike also served as a Republican member of the Coles County Board.
On October 24, their car was struck head-on by a van that had veered across the center line. Both were killed instantly.
Behind the wheel was 34-year-old Edwin Pacheco-Meza, an illegal immigrant from Honduras who entered the United States undetected.
Police say his van contained drugs, an open container of alcohol, and ammunition for a firearm.
