California Democrats just pulled off a political heist disguised as “reform” — and Republicans are sounding the alarm. On Tuesday, voters in the deep-blue state signed off on a Democrat-engineered congressional map that could hand Gov. Gavin Newsom and his party up to five new House seats heading into the 2026 midterms.
The move gives Democrats a tailor-made advantage in their quest to reclaim the House of Representatives — a power play that critics say destroys the concept of “fair representation.” The new districts, crafted by the Democrat-controlled Legislature and rammed through under the governor’s watch, are locked in for the next three elections.
A “Victory Lap” Over the Constitution
Newsom wasted no time celebrating the overhaul, calling it a triumph for, as he said, “the principles our Founding Fathers lived and died for.” But to many observers, this isn’t patriotism — it’s partisanship at its worst.
