Obama’s Last-Minute Move Shocks Voters!

In a stunning twist just before one of the nation’s most-watched elections, former President Barack Obama declined to campaign alongside proud socialist and Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani—signaling deep divisions within the Democratic Party’s ranks.

Instead of appearing in person to boost Mamdani’s struggling mayoral campaign, Obama was busy in New Jersey, rallying behind Mikie Sherrill, the Democratic candidate for governor. The move raised eyebrows among party insiders who saw the snub as a not-so-subtle message about how far left Mamdani’s politics have gone.

Still, Mamdani tried to downplay the humiliation, telling reporters in City Hall Park, “I appreciated the call with President Obama and his support for the movement that we have created. I appreciated his words. I appreciated his time, and I appreciate this movement for putting us on the brink of delivering us a new city in this place.”

Despite Mamdani’s upbeat tone, the truth is clear: Obama’s absence spoke volumes. While the two spoke briefly on the phone, details of their conversation remain vague. And though Mamdani’s team hinted that Obama shouldn’t endorse anyone in the race, history says otherwise—Obama previously backed Bill de Blasio during his 2013 mayoral campaign.
