The Biden-era Democrats appear to be using a full-blown government shutdown as political leverage ahead of key state elections—leaving tens of millions of Americans struggling to put food on the table.
For six straight weeks, Senate Democrats have blocked a government funding bill 13 separate times, effectively freezing critical programs like food assistance just days before voters head to the polls in New York, New Jersey, and Virginia.
Republicans say it’s not an accident—it’s a strategy.
“They’re setting everything up for next week,” warned Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.), speaking to Politico on Friday. “If they do it before Tuesday, then their base may not show up because it looks like they caved … That’s why they’re setting everything up to open next week. We’ll be open next Wednesday, or Wednesday night, or Thursday,” he said.
Millions Left Without Food Assistance
The political gamesmanship has real-world consequences. Nearly 42 million low-income Americans have been left without access to SNAP benefits as Democrats dig in their heels, demanding Republicans agree to extend expiring ObamaCare subsidies before reopening the government.
