President Donald Trump made one thing perfectly clear during his explosive “60 Minutes” interview on Sunday night — he’s not backing down to Democrat pressure, no matter how long the government shutdown lasts.
For weeks, Democrats have been pushing demands tied to health care spending as part of their conditions to reopen the government. But Trump put that fantasy to rest in just a few words, declaring he would not be “extorted by the Democrats.”
“I’m very good at [ending shutdowns] … but I’m not gonna do it by being extorted by the Democrats who have lost their way. There’s something wrong with these people,” Trump told CBS’s Norah O’Donnell.
Throughout the tense interview, O’Donnell repeated Democrat talking points about health care premiums and Obamacare, arguing that many of those affected live in states Trump carried in 2020. But Trump wasn’t buying it.
“And I’m saying we can fix it, Norah,” Trump shot back.
