Barack Obama is stepping back into the political spotlight — and he’s not hiding why. According to a new CNN report, the former president is gearing up for a major push to help Democrats regain control as Donald Trump’s presidency continues to reshape Washington.
After years of staying mostly behind the scenes during Joe Biden’s term, Obama reportedly believes that Trump’s leadership could permanently alter the country’s direction. Sources told CNN that Obama is “not so sure” America will “survive Donald Trump’s presidency,” prompting him to take a more aggressive stance in the upcoming election cycle.
For much of the Biden administration, Obama played the role of fundraiser-in-chief while deliberately keeping a low public profile. He wanted to let “the next generation of Democrats” rise without his shadow looming over them. But according to party insiders, that plan is now being scrapped.
CNN reported that Obama and his team are “reworking his longstanding strategy of minimizing his public presence” as they see Trump’s policies and influence as a growing threat to the Democratic Party’s future.
