President Donald Trump just proved once again that when Democrats play politics, he plays to win.
Despite a full-blown government shutdown and Democrats blocking every attempt to approve an exception for military pay, U.S. troops will still receive their paychecks this Friday — thanks to Trump’s decisive move to protect those who protect America.
Trump Finds a Way — Again
NBC News confirmed Thursday night that Trump’s administration successfully secured military pay even as the federal government remains closed for over a month. The Pentagon, under Trump’s leadership, has yet to miss a single pay period since the shutdown began.
Democrats have repeatedly refused to pass a clean continuing resolution — a simple measure that would keep the government open while negotiations continue. Instead, they’ve chosen political theater over the welfare of service members and their families.
According to an official from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), about $2.5 billion will be drawn from the military housing fund — part of Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill” signed earlier this year. The administration will also utilize $1.4 billion each from the Pentagon’s research and procurement accounts. That brings the total to roughly $5.3 billion, slightly less than the $6.5 billion used earlier in the month to pay troops.
