Amazon CEO Andy Jassy has officially confirmed what millions feared: the company is cutting 14,000 corporate jobs — and insiders say this could be only the beginning. Reports indicate as many as 30,000 total jobs could be eliminated in the months ahead.
While the White House claims the economy is “booming,” Amazon just showed how hollow that claim really is. Corporate America isn’t rewarding hard work anymore — it’s replacing it.
In a public memo, Beth Galetti, Amazon’s senior vice president of people experience, attempted to justify the cuts.
“Some may ask why we’re reducing roles when the company is performing well,” Galetti wrote. Her answer was blunt: artificial intelligence has changed the game.
