Parents and Patriots Demand Consequences
The backlash was immediate and fierce. Online users quickly identified Martinez and her employer, prompting Chicago Public Schools to open an investigation. The school’s website was taken down within hours as furious parents flooded officials with demands for her termination.
Principal Dawn Iles-Gomez issued a letter to parents about “potential threats” made toward a staff member but failed to acknowledge the horrifying behavior that caused the backlash. Police have since become involved due to reported threats directed at Martinez.
But conservatives say the real issue isn’t about protecting the teacher — it’s about holding her accountable for publicly mocking political murder.
A Disturbing Trend Among Educators
This isn’t an isolated incident. Reports show that Martinez’s actions fit a wider, deeply concerning trend across public education.
Over 350 teachers nationwide are reportedly under investigation for making cruel or celebratory remarks about Kirk’s assassination. In Texas alone, officials received hundreds of complaints against educators posting comments like “he got what he deserved” or even urging others to “be a Tyler Robinson” — referencing the suspected shooter.
Dozens of teachers have already been suspended or fired.
TPUSA’s Andrew Kolvet warned, “The most vile reactions to Charlie’s murder have almost all been public school teachers and professors.”
Congressman Chip Roy blasted the education system, saying, “These people have been polluting American children. School Choice is important – but it’s bailing water out of a sinking boat with a massive hole in it.”
Senator Mike Lee also called out the hypocrisy: “Imagine if the tables were turned and a Republican did this. The media would speak of nothing else for weeks.”
Kirk’s Death Becomes a Turning Point
For many conservatives, Kirk’s assassination represented more than tragedy — it became a symbol of political persecution.
He was gunned down by a 22-year-old rooftop sniper during his “American Comeback Tour.” Authorities have described the shooting as politically motivated.
President Trump later designated multiple groups as terrorist organizations in response, while Vice President JD Vance led a national memorial honoring Kirk’s life and legacy. Even professional sports teams held moments of silence in his memory.
To then see a teacher publicly mock his death — mimicking the same violent act that took his life — was, to many, unforgivable.
A Broken System Protecting Radical Teachers
Despite public outrage, Chicago Public Schools issued a bland statement promising to maintain “a welcoming, safe, and inclusive teaching and learning environment,” without confirming whether Martinez would face discipline.
Fox News contributor Joe Concha expressed the anger of millions when he posted, “Most horrible being of the year goes to…”
Republican strategist Mercedes Schlapp was even more direct: “This is a Chicago teacher who should be fired immediately. A deranged individual who advocates for violence and death should not be near any children. Pray for our country.”
Parents Are Taking Notice
What started as a shocking protest stunt has become a national flashpoint. Conservatives see Martinez’s gesture as proof of a larger sickness infecting the public school system — one that tolerates radicalism and hatred toward conservatives.
The image of a taxpayer-funded teacher pointing finger guns at her neck while shouting “Bang, bang” to mock a slain father has now become a symbol of everything broken in America’s education system.
And for many parents, it’s yet another reason to pull their children out of government-run schools and demand real accountability — before another tragedy is turned into a punchline.
