For years, critics insisted his tariff policies would backfire — warning of higher prices, lost jobs, and economic chaos. But instead of crippling American industry, Trump’s pressure just forced one of the world’s largest automakers to pour a record-breaking amount of money into U.S. manufacturing.
Stellantis — the multinational auto giant behind Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge, and Ram — revealed on Tuesday a staggering $13 billion investment to expand and modernize its American production lines. This isn’t just the company’s largest investment ever — it’s a direct response to Trump’s tariff pressure on foreign-built vehicles.
The four-year plan will support five brand-new vehicle models, fund the production of a new four-cylinder engine, and create more than 5,000 manufacturing jobs across Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana.
