A bombshell revelation is shaking the case surrounding the tragic murder of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk. Legal experts are now warning that a critical flaw in the prosecution’s timeline could give the defense just enough room to throw the entire case into disarray.
A Legal Battle That Could Stretch for a Year
According to Salt Lake City defense attorney Skye Lazaro, the prosecution may face serious challenges in proving when key events took place. Speaking to Fox News, Lazaro explained that the timeline of events could make or break the case — and that the defense will likely drag out the discovery process for months.
“There’s just so much we don’t know yet as this case develops,” Lazaro said, adding that it could take up to a year before the preliminary hearing even begins.
The suspect, Tyler Robinson, 22, is accused of gunning down Kirk at approximately 12:20 p.m. on September 10 while the conservative leader was addressing a crowd at Utah Valley University. Kirk, just 31 years old and a father of two, had built Turning Point USA into one of the most influential conservative youth organizations in the nation.
The Missing Timestamps Problem
What could become a key vulnerability for prosecutors are text messages cited in court filings — messages in which Robinson allegedly admitted to the killing while texting his partner, Lance Twiggs. The problem? Those texts reportedly have no timestamps.
