Goodbye to the Glass House

For generations, Ford’s Glass House in Dearborn, Michigan, was a symbol of American car culture. Built in 1956, the skyscraper became one of the most recognizable icons in the auto industry. But Ford says its days are numbered.

The company is abandoning the site and shifting operations into a massive new headquarters just a few miles down the road. The transition begins later this year, with a full move expected by mid-2026. After that, the Glass House is coming down for good.
