This week, Maryland Governor Wes Moore officially took his name off the list of possible contenders, leaving the party without one of the figures many insiders were quietly rallying behind. His decision to bow out adds another problem for Democrats already staring down a turbulent election cycle.
Stephen A. Smith Steps In With His Picks
Sports commentator Stephen A. Smith threw his own opinions into the mix on his SiriusXM show Straight Shooter with Stephen A. When a self-described “lifetime lib” caller from Wisconsin suggested California Gov. Gavin Newsom as the likely choice, Smith wasted no time shooting that idea down.
“You shouldn’t be. You shouldn’t be,” Smith interrupted. He quickly pivoted to his personal favorites: “I love Gov. Josh Shapiro from Pennsylvania and Gov. Wes Moore from Maryland. Those are my two and not necessarily in that order.”
