A shocking case involving the family of Democrat Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) is now moving forward after a New York judge ruled there is “credible evidence” to support a lawsuit filed by the widowed husband of a former employee who tragically took his own life.
The lawsuit, brought by Thomas Maltezos, centers around the death of Brandon O’Brien, 35, who once worked for Wyden’s wife, Nancy Bass Wyden. According to court documents, O’Brien died by suicide after enduring relentless harassment from the couple’s two children — harassment that Maltezos claims was both homophobic and sexually charged.
O’Brien had worked for Bass Wyden, the owner of Manhattan’s famous Strand Bookstore, for two years before the alleged abuse drove him to resign in September 2024. Just eight months later, he ended his life.
