Now, his widow, Erika Kirk, is breaking her silence and sharing haunting details of his final days.
A Widow’s Pain
In an emotional interview, Erika described the moment she was told not to view her husband’s body. Authorities warned her about the damage from the bullet that struck him in the neck. But she refused.
“With all due respect, I want to see what they did to my husband,” she said.
At the hospital, she bent over his body for one last goodbye. Erika described kissing him and noticing his “semi-open eyes” and “Mona Lisa-like half-smile.”
“He’d died happy,” she said. “Like Jesus rescued him. The bullet came, he blinked, and he was in heaven.”
