The online chat platform Discord confirmed that just hours before Robinson’s arrest, he posted a stunning confession to a private group of friends.
One of the messages read: “Hey guys, I have bad news for you all … It was me at UVU yesterday. im sorry for all of this.”
Patel told the Senate Judiciary Committee that investigators are digging into “anyone and everyone involved in that Discord chat” with Robinson. He revealed that “a lot more” than 20 people were linked to the suspect on the platform, adding, “we’re running them all down. … Every single one.”
“There are a number of individuals that are currently being investigated and interrogated, and a number yet to be investigated and interrogated, specific to that chat room,” Patel explained. “So we are very much in our ongoing posture of investigation.”
Robinson was charged last Tuesday with multiple crimes, including aggravated murder. Prosecutors announced they will seek the death penalty, underscoring the severity of the case.
The suspect has not entered a plea. The judge has scheduled his next court appearance for September 29 and confirmed he will be assigned a lawyer.
Even as conservatives mourn Charlie Kirk’s death, Turning Point USA has announced new leadership to carry on his work. The organization confirmed that Erika Kirk, Charlie’s widow, has been unanimously chosen as CEO and chair of the board.
“In prior discussions, Charlie expressed to multiple executives that this is what he wanted in the event of his death,” the group said in a statement.
Board members praised Erika’s leadership and commitment to her late husband’s mission. “Charlie prepared all of us for a moment like this one. He worked tirelessly to ensure Turning Point USA was built to survive even the greatest tests. And now, it’s our great pride to announce Erika Kirk as the new CEO and Chair of the Board for Turning Point USA.”
Describing Erika as the “natural successor,” the board vowed to honor Charlie’s vision of faith, freedom, and patriotism. “We will not surrender or kneel before evil,” the statement read. “The attempt to destroy Charlie’s work will become our chance to make it more powerful and enduring than ever before.”
The statement concluded with a blessing: “May God Bless Erika, the Kirk family, and the entire team at Turning Point USA.”
