A shocking scene unfolded outside a federal immigration facility in Illinois, and now one Democrat mayor is facing serious questions.
Evanston Mayor Daniel Biss, who is also running for Congress in Illinois’ 9th District, was captured on video appearing to help leftist agitators block a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) vehicle from leaving the Broadview processing center near Chicago.
Tires Slashed, Vehicles Surrounded
The incident began Friday morning when protesters gathered outside the ICE facility. According to NewsNation footage, the mob slashed the tires of an ICE vehicle as it attempted to enter the property. Later, the crowd grew more aggressive, surrounding the driveway and attempting to stop government vehicles from moving in or out.
Democrat Candidates Join the Chaos
Joining the mob was not just Mayor Biss, but also his radical primary rival Kat Abughazaleh. She was ultimately thrown to the ground by federal officers after refusing to get out of the way. Agents were forced to deploy tear gas and other crowd control measures as the situation escalated.
