Operating from what they call the “war room” in Washington, D.C., Trump’s Interagency Crime Coordination Cell has already located more than 22,600 missing children. In the process, over 400 sponsors tied to these cases were arrested.
The numbers tell a story no parent wants to hear — at least 27 children were found dead due to murder, suicide, or drug overdoses.
“We found children who have been raped,” said John Fabbricatore, senior advisor at the HHS Office of Refugee Resettlement. “We’re talking about debt bondage, where children are being made to work off debt, trafficking debt.”
These weren’t just children slipping through the cracks — they were being handed straight into the hands of predators.
The scale of the problem is staggering. From January 2021 to December 2024, nearly half a million unaccompanied minors crossed the southern border.
Instead of protecting these kids, Biden’s team made the crisis worse by slashing safety checks. Children were handed over to sponsors with little to no background vetting.
The result? A flood of reports detailing abuse, trafficking, and neglect.
“There wasn’t very good recordkeeping,” Fabbricatore admitted. Many reports — some involving human trafficking — sat in government systems for years, completely ignored.
And perhaps most shocking of all: Biden’s team wasn’t even using DNA tests to confirm that kids were being released to real family members.
They were simply trusting whoever showed up claiming to be a relative.
The difference under Trump couldn’t be clearer.
Now, every sponsor must pass a DNA test, a criminal background check, and prove they have the means to care for a child before any release is approved.
Fabbricatore said this means kids stay in government care longer — but that’s the point: to make sure they end up somewhere safe, not in a drug house or trafficking ring.
Trump’s team has already reviewed 90% of the massive backlog Biden left behind. Fewer than 7,000 reports remain.
This wasn’t just bureaucratic chaos — it was a direct result of the Democrats’ radical open borders obsession.
Biden’s team knew cutting safety checks would lead to tragedy. They did it anyway because admitting the danger would expose the failure of their immigration policies.
For years, Democrats screamed about Trump putting “kids in cages.”
But Biden was handing kids straight to traffickers.
