But Pergram’s latest analysis points to a harsher reality than most Republicans want to admit. With September’s government funding deadline looming, he warns the GOP is staring down what he calls a “chamber of horrors.”
The nightmare comes down to simple numbers.
In the House, Speaker Mike Johnson can only afford to lose three Republican votes if he wants to pass anything without Democrats. In the Senate, the math is even worse — Republicans need 60 votes to break a filibuster. That hands Chuck Schumer enormous leverage.
