The crime wave in Washington, D.C. has finally reached a breaking point—and this time, it’s the White House stepping in. On Monday, U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro blasted the city’s “lawless” policies and praised President Trump for taking decisive federal action.
President Trump announced he is seizing federal control of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department and authorizing National Guard deployments to restore order in what he called a “public safety emergency” in the nation’s capital.
“This city will no longer be a sanctuary for illegal alien criminals. We will have full, seamless, integrated cooperation at all levels of law enforcement, and we’ll deploy officers across the district with an overwhelming presence,” Trump declared.
The President also pressed Republicans in Congress to dismantle policies he says embolden criminals—especially the city’s no-cash-bail law. Trump urged lawmakers to take immediate action, saying cities like D.C. have “handed the streets over” to offenders.
