This hard-charging order comes just days after violent anti-ICE riots erupted in Los Angeles — prompting Trump to send in the National Guard and Marines to stabilize the chaos. Critics on the Left accused the president of stoking tensions, but Trump fired back, holding Democrat leaders responsible for the lawlessness festering in their cities.
“These Radical Left Democrats are sick of mind, hate our Country, and actually want to destroy our Inner Cities — And they are doing a good job of it! There is something wrong with them,” he wrote.
His order tasks ICE agents with delivering on what he calls the “single largest Mass Deportation Program in History,” targeting sanctuary cities that have long defied federal immigration enforcement.
Democrat leaders, unsurprisingly, are up in arms. California Governor Gavin Newsom accused the president of turning America’s cities into war zones, even tearing into Trump on national television with a grave warning for the entire country.
“Look, this isn’t just about protests here in Los Angeles, when Donald Trump sought blanket authority to commandeer the National Guard. He made that order apply to every state in this nation,” Newsom said.
“This is about all of us. This is about you. California may be first, but it clearly will not end here. Other states are next. Democracy is next. Democracy is under assault before our eyes, this moment we have feared has arrived.”

Despite the outrage, Trump’s constitutional authority as commander-in-chief allows him to mobilize military resources — including National Guard troops — to safeguard federal interests. In fact, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals just granted a temporary hold on a ruling that attempted to strip control of California’s Guard from the federal government.
As protests rage in Los Angeles, the city has been forced into lockdown. Mayor Karen Bass enacted a strict curfew as demonstrations halted traffic and brought the city to a standstill.
Meanwhile, federal ICE tactical teams are gearing up for deployment in several major Democrat hubs, including New York, Seattle, Chicago, and northern Virginia. With violence erupting and tensions soaring, the administration isn’t backing down.
Newsom continued his assault, accusing the president of desecrating the Constitution and destroying the balance of power.
Trump is “taking a wrecking ball to our founding fathers’ historic project” of three co-equal branches of government, Newsom said.
But for Trump and his allies, this is about restoring the rule of law — something they argue Democrats have long abandoned.
