President Donald Trump is keeping America out of yet another war — despite mounting pressure from U.S. allies to strike Iran. As Israel intensifies its military campaign and calls on Washington to bomb a deeply-buried nuclear site, Trump made it clear this weekend: the U.S. will not take offensive action unless attacked.
The standoff between Israel and Iran reached new levels after Israeli leaders lobbied the Trump Administration to greenlight a strike on the Fordow nuclear facility — a hardened site buried deep inside a mountain that Israel simply can’t destroy alone.
“The entire operation… really has to be completed with the elimination of Fordow,” said Israeli Ambassador to the U.S. Yechiel Leiter in a Friday interview with Fox News.
But Trump isn’t budging.
An Administration official confirmed to Axios that while Israel has been pushing hard behind the scenes for a U.S. military strike, the president is standing firm. He addressed the issue himself in a post late Saturday night on Truth Social.
