He made headlines worldwide with his apologies to victims of clerical sexual abuse and shifted the Church dramatically to the left — often taking subtle jabs at political leaders like Trump without naming them directly. His emphasis on open borders and progressive policies drove a wedge between traditional Catholics and modernists.
These clear differences between Trump’s America-first leadership and Francis’ globalist leanings gave Trump’s enemies fresh ammunition after the pope’s death. They couldn’t resist crowing that even in death, Francis might somehow stick it to Trump.
According to a report from the Western Journal, traditional Vatican funeral protocol dictates that Italy and the pope’s homeland — Argentina — receive front seating. Afterward, seating for world leaders is assigned based on French alphabetical order, which theoretically would have landed Trump in the third row.
But come Monday morning, those mocking Trump were nowhere to be found. Reality had crushed their fantasy.
Some desperate media outlets tried spinning Trump’s seating arrangement, pointing out that he was near European leaders supportive of Ukraine. They floated the idea that the seating was “awkward” for Trump, but the president didn’t bat an eye. Throughout the ceremony, he either smiled gently or maintained a solemn expression, completely unbothered by the liberal media’s desperate narratives.
When critics failed to bash Trump over his placement, they latched onto his attire. Unlike most attendees dressed in traditional black, Trump wore a sharp blue business suit. Leftists immediately pounced on the color choice, accusing him of disrespect.

First Lady Melania, however, followed traditional mourning dress codes impeccably. She wore a conservative black dress and a black veil, exuding both grace and dignity. The Trumps quietly left after the procession and did not stay for the full funeral Mass.
Ironically, while Trump’s blue suit drew endless ire, no one seemed to mind that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy showed up in black military fatigues rather than formal attire. Once again, the rules only seem to apply when it’s Trump in the spotlight.
The spectacle served as yet another reminder: no matter how much his enemies try to diminish him, Donald Trump finds a way to dominate the room — even at one of the most sacred events on the planet.
