Beginning the next month, Minnesota will issue driver’s licenses to 81,000 undocumented immigrants! Thanks to the state’s Department of Public Safety, be ready to drive lawfully.
At a news conference on Thursday, the state’s “Driver’s License for All” project was officially announced, and it will start on October 1.
“We’ll be able to start taking applications for driver’s licenses for all Minnesotans, including those who don’t have lawful presence in the United States,” stated Pong Xiong, head of the Driver and Vehicle Services division of the Minnesota Department of Public Safety.
According to the Department of Public Safety, state IDs do not require proof of residency.
Before the next DL4All launch, get ready to acquire your license. To help you with the procedure, our Driver and Vehicle Services (DVS) section has put up a thorough handbook. Whatever your immigration situation, the procedures will always be the same. Ensure that you are ready for after October 1st.
By being familiar with the driving regulations, you can start out on the correct foot. Visit the DVS website to view the whole Class D Driver’s handbook. For your convenience, it is readily offered in a variety of languages.
Prepare your documents now! Minnesota will no longer need documentation of lawful presence as of October 1. You will nonetheless need to present papers that are either in English or have been translated into English as identification evidence. You need not worry; DVS has a convenient list of acceptable papers available.
Before entering the nation, be sure you have the proper documentation! Be careful not to breach the law.
“Whether it’s by crossing the U.S. border with a ‘coyote’ or buying a fake U.S. passport, a foreign national who enters the U.S. illegally can be both convicted of a crime and held responsible for a civil violation under the U.S. immigration laws,” according to the law website AllLaw. “Illegal entry also carries consequences for anyone who might later attempt to apply for a green card or other immigration benefit.”
“The penalties and consequences get progressively more severe if a person enters the United States illegally more than once, or enters illegally after a final order of removal (deportation) or after having been convicted of an aggravated felony,” the site adds.
