61-Year-Old Woman Targeted for Backing Donald Trump

A quiet morning in downtown Madison turned into a scene of tragedy after a Wisconsin woman was gunned down in what authorities say was a targeted attack tied to political tensions.

Christine A. Jones, 61, a longtime housekeeping supervisor from Cottage Grove, lost her life after being shot inside a parking ramp last week. Investigators allege the suspect—a former coworker—harbored deep resentment toward Jones, allegedly fueled in part by her support for Donald Trump.

The suspect, 31-year-old Diamond Simone Wallace, had previously worked alongside Jones at a hotel in downtown Madison. According to official documents, tensions between the two escalated over time, with Wallace accusing Jones of racism due to her political beliefs. Authorities say that hostility ultimately turned deadly.

In recent media coverage, Wallace has been referred to using “they/them” pronouns and reportedly filed paperwork to change their name to “Sainte La Rell Vargas.” However, court filings continue to list Wallace as female.
